Colour terms
Hue – synonymous with the word colour.
Lightness / darkness – it depends on how much white or black is in colour.
Saturation = intensity – describes the strength of a colour and its brightness or dullness, which depends on how much grey there is in.
Shade – the mixture of a pure hue and varying amounts of black.
Tint – mixture of a pure hue and varying amounts of white.
Tone – mixture of a shade with white or a tint with black.
Pastel – describes a light to medium colour, often a tint with large proportion of white in it.

Colour harmony
Triadic colour harmony – use of three colours that are an equal distance apart on the colour wheel (ex.: orange, green, violet).
