Conclusion: In this Lab we learned that when no forces are applied on either side of the pivot point, then the object stays still but when a force is applied on one side of the pivot point, then rotation occurs. This rotation is the result of force being applied away from the pivot point. When roation does occur it is called torque. Torque is determined by using the formula T = F x Äd. In the formula T represents torque, while F represents force and Äd the distance. Weight is the force used in this lab.
As we got to the second part of the procedure we learned that when the torque of both sides of the pivot point are egual, then the result is no rotation. This is because the forces applied to both sides equal one another.
