Extract

Medieval literature generally was composed of religious writings. Just as in modern literature, it is a complex and rich field of study. Works of medieval literature in Western Europe and Central Europe were written in Latin language, because it was language of Church. Different situation was in Eastern Europe, were works were in Greek language. Characteristic feature of medieval literature was anonymity of authors, their role in that time was unimportant.
