The elderly and children, who are most at risk also require special attention and care.
In response to such needs, international organisations such as the Red Cross/Red Crescent and the United Nations provide large amounts of aid, and MEDCs can provide additional rescue services, such as dog teams. People in MEDCs can also simply evacuate the area if the earthquake prediction is good enough. People can cope with the effects of Earthquakes by using the aid they receive to good effect. In areas where infrastructure has been damaged it is important to provide emergency relief.
In the long term people can cope with Earthquakes by petitioning or asking their local or regional authorities to implement better and more wide-ranging earthquake preparation measures and emergency schemes.
