It is interesting, educating, but hard to compare Latvia and Great Britain. However, there are many things that are similar and the same amount – different. Both countries have not only one nationality living in it and both countries have met some problems because of it. Difference is that British are more mixed nation but they are not complaining so much about it as we do. There are also different reasons for this multi-national society. Firstly, I would like to bring out some statistic data about nationalities living in Great Britain and Latvia, then to analyse and compare reasons for immigrating to this country and geographical distribution of majority and minority ethnic groups. Secondly, I will have a look on living conditions of minority ethnic groups comparatively with major ethnic groups and I will try to explain why it is so. Are minority ethnic groups living better than majority ethnic groups? Does any ethnic group feel some kind of discrimination? Lastly, I would like to introduce with main problems caused by different nationalities living in the countries and solutions to them. Why are there problems? Is there any solution at all? And is there something we could learn from other people experience?

However, nationalities have mixed a lot during the centuries there, it is hard to find a typical Englishman and very little of them are pure English. There are 57.7% - Latvian, 29.6% - Russian, 4.1% - Belarusian, 2.7% - Ukrainian, 2.5% - Polish, 1.4% - Lithuanian, 2% - other nationalities in Latvia. It is interesting that about 300 different languages are spoken in London; however, we can not find such amount of languages or accents spoken in Latvia every day. Mainly two languages are heard in Riga every day, and there are two main ethnic groups: Latvian speaking and Russian speaking people.…
