Middle Ages in Britain
Started with the Battle of Hastings and the Norman Conquest;
A period of massive social change; burgeoning nationalism; international conflict; terrible natural disaster; climate changes; rebellion and resistance; and renaissance.
Medieval Britain consisted of England, Scotland and Wales.

The three parts of Britain
Scotland- under constant attack from Norsemen, Picts, Britons, Celts, and Angles, but Kenneth Macalpine, King of Scots.
England- was the site of numerous invasions from Vikings, Saxons, Angles and Jutes.
Wales- was fragmented into numerous independent kingdoms who fighted each other. Later asks for help of England.
* Ireland was very distinct.

William the First (William the Conqueror) invaded England with an army of soldiers from Normandy.
William defeated the Saxon king (Harold) at the Battle of Hastings.
This was the last time that
