If Japan had not been bombed, then half of it would have been taken over by the Soviets and the other half by the Americans. As we know, by looking at North and South Korea, in this case conditions would have been horrible for Northern Japan, as the Russians already still didn't like the Japanese very much, for beating them in the Russo-Japanese War. Also, I can't imagine what would have happened to all of the Asian Pacific and Southeast Asian countries if the Americans had had to negotiate a peace with Japan and would have had to let Japan keep the empire. Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia have great economies today, but if they had still been kept a part of the Japanese Empire, I don't think their countries would be as successful, due to the brutality of Japanese imperialism.
