State Ohio. The Origin of Its Name and Nickname

Reasons why I decided to make survey about the history of the state Ohio and the origin of its name and nickname were, first of all the fact, that I have lived there for some months and some my relatives had migrated to this state. So it seemed to me interesting to find out more about this place. But of course, the main reason was that it seemed to me, that the history of such a place with fine, rich land and navigable waters nearby, should definitely be more interesting and full of different happenings than any other.
To start with I would like to give a brief history of how Ohio became one of the states of the US.
