It is very important to know some physical and mechanical properties of the knitted fabrics and one of the most important one is bursting strength. In a study made by Mavruz and Ogualta from the University of Cukurova, the results of a Taguchi approach for the optimization of the bursting strength of knitted fabrics were analysed. By using a signal-to-noise approach (S/N), which measures the standard deviations of the product to the designed product, they found through testing different methods the largest ratio, which is a way to procure the best-fitted way to produce in the system design phase. The study also included a verification experiment to make sure the results from the first experiments could be verified. By finding the optimal variables the loss of production could be minimized and the quality of the product could be enhanced (Mavruz S, 2010).
In 2005 different scientists used Taguchi method to develop a process that is applied to two different fabrics for optimising sewing conditions to minimise seam pucker, in 2007 optimisation of the splicer parameters of Nylon 66 yarns with minimal variation was conducted (Mavruz S, 2010).
