Choose One Religion

Another friend explained that having attended Jewish schools until the age of eighteen she was naively unaware that the non Jewish population of the University she attended would understand so little about her life. Despite the fact the that many Jews have been singled out for persecution and dehumanisation based on prejudice bigotry and stereotyping she did not realise that many of the people she encountered had never met a Jewish person before and some had some quite anti-Semitic views relating to her faith, others actually made verbal comments about how they had expected her to be "penny pinching" or to have a big nose, and even more did not expect these comments to cause offence but be seen as compliments. Nevertheless she feels her time at University was a positive one but she maintains that it was hard to be accepted fully into the large crowd of friends as she chose to keep Kosher and therefore didn't go out on Friday nights for religious reasons.…
