Today, the Benetton Group is present in 120 countries around the world. Its core business is clothing: a group with a strong Italian character whose style, design expertise and passion are clearly seen in the United Colors of Benetton and the more fashion-orientated Sisley brands, and in sportswear brands Playlife and Killer Loop. The Group produces over 110 million garments every year, over 90% in Europe. Its retail network of 5,000 stores around the world is increasingly focused on large floor-space points of sale offering high quality customer services and now generates a total turnover of 1.9 billion euros, net of retail sales. Benetton Group is listed on the stock exchanges of Milan, Frankfurt and New York. As a multinational company the Group combines functional and geographic structures to make its work as efficient as possible. Benetton Group is very innovative and it reflects in their business strategy. It ensures that people working in the company do not feel like in an army, nevertheless they do their job holding place in a fixed hierarchy.
As we can see in both bar chart and table Benetton Group the highest net income had in year 2000 when it reached the amount of 174 millions euro. During the period of years 2000 and 2002 there was a considerable fall – 26%. This is largely due to changes in tax system of Italy and currency problems in the country. Situation has improved in year 2003 and in spite of decrease in revenues net income has increased and reached the value of 139 million euro. Company forecasts stable improvement in the next years.…
