The same commitment to ethical practices within the organisation in regard to dealing with employees will help to develop mutual trust and respect therefore fostering an environment in which the likelihood of unethical behaviour by individual employees is diminished (2002, Daboub & Coulton). Bowie (1998 p. 2) suggests that such a development of trust within the organisation may also positively affect relationships with suppliers and customers and can therefore attract compatible employees, suppliers and customers.
One of the areas within the organization which management has the greatest ability to influence is that of the organization's internal culture and environment. The organization's culture influences how its employees, including management respond within their work environment by forming a set of values and rules in which the employee is expected to operate (Robbins et al p. 90). In order to encourage socially responsible behaviour within the organisation the development of a "strong culture in which key values are intensely held and widely shared" will encourage the acceptance and implementation of such behaviours through management (Robbins et al 2000 p. 92).
