CONCLUSIONS
Although human trafficking is divided into many different types, the most common of these is prostitution and other forms of sexual exploitation, and the highest percentage of victims are women and young girls.
With the progress of globalization, development of tourism, increasing poverty, economic and demographic isolation, and rising demand for sexual services and cheap labour, the volume of human trafficking worldwide will not decrease. It is also expected that in Latvia, human trafficking and exploitation will follow the same trend.
Human trafficking is one of the greatest tragedies of modern day. The active fight against exploitation of people, which involves forced prostitution and labour, and trafficking for organs, began only at the beginning of 21st century. A large part of people still does not understand the devastating impact of human trafficking on society as, a whole, and on every individual. The crime is very difficult to investigate and uncover, as it usually involves two or more countries. The prevention of and the fight against this crime is a demanding for specific knowledge and skills of police officers in combating trafficking human.
