Understanding the language of the text
How did I feel when reading this text in the original language and why: I liked that The style of the book was generally humorous and conversational. It was somewhat easy to read. The only problems reading were the peculiarities of southern speech but in the other half of the book I was already used to them.
How I was influenced by the author's stylistic techniques, choice of words, sentence structure, text structure: Harper Lee's use of figurative language creates a rich narrative tapestry providing a deep, powerful picture. The language can pull the reader into the story because it is visual and engaging. That is accomplished with the use of metaphors. The book is a mix of straightforward story-telling and complicated ideas. The use of imagery also helps the reader better imagine the surroundings of protagonists and the urban environment.
