Puerto Rico is a small island in the Caribbean. It locates between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Puerto Rico is a country with a commonwealth status under the government of the USA.
The archipelago of Puerto Rico includes the main island of Puerto Rico, the smallest of the Greater Antilles, and a number of smaller islands and keys. Its total area is 9,104 sq km, but the coastline is approximately 500 km. The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan, founded in 1508 by Juan Ponce de Leon.
There are 3,9 million people in Puerto Rico and if we include the illegal immigrants from the Dominican republic then the population is more than 4 million. Puerto Rico has one of the most dynamic economies in the Caribbean region. Tourism is one of the main reasons. The natural resources are fish, stone, copper and nickel.
The regular temperature in Puerto Rico is 26o. Most days of the year are warm and sunny but hurricanes are not a rare thing either.
The ethnic groups of Puerto Rico are white (mostly Spanish) 80%, black 8%, Amerindian 0,4%, Asian 0,2% and mixed 11%. Spanish and English are the official languages of Puerto Rico but without doubt Spanish is the mainly used language. People in Puerto Rico are mostly Catholic 85%, the rest are Protestants and other 15%. …
