George Orwell's essay “Why I Write” could be divided into three different parts: how he grow to be writer, four main reasons to write in general and finally his main reason to write and how he acknowledged it. In this essay I will try to comment upon all of them, as well as mention my opinion of the matter, as well as my personal reasons to write.
“Why I Write” could be considered as some kind of short biography form as it tells a reader about long journey G. Orwell took to become the writer we know as an author of “Animal Farm” and “1984”. The first part of the essay consists of a story about his growing up both as a human being and a writer. At the very beginning of the essay G. Orwell writes the following : “From a very early age, perhaps the age of five or six, I knew that when I grew up I should be a writer”. The sentence introduces both the essay and his biography. It says that the decision to become a writer to him was almost unconscious and very clear from the start of his lifetime. The author continues his story in the next sentence, saying : “Between the ages of about seventeen and twenty-four I tried to abandon this idea” thus introducing the reader to his inner struggle against the urge to write. In the next few paragraphs the author tells his life story and explains how it influences his writing style.…
