Development of Media Regulation in Latvia

When it comes to Latvian media regulation there are two basic laws that govern Latvian media in the legal acpect. It is Radio and Television Law proclaimed on September 8, 1995 and Law on the Press and Other Mass Media, which was passed in 1990.
As the main discussions and criticism of the media regulations in Latvia over the past decade have been at place mainly regarding regulations of electronic mass media, more precisely television, both public and private, issues regarding electronic mass media regulations and development of regulations will be discussed in this paper.
