Future forecasting of this technology is very promising and frightening. Since the
government has already implemented a ten-year research and development plan to work out the hydrogen refinement and storage issues, it is definitely in our future. Within fifty years, the entire structure of transportation society will change. There will no longer be gas stations but instead refueling stations. Cars will be interchangeable to the point where citizens will own multiple bodies to keep up with the style, somewhat like the faces on the cell phones. Public transportation will be cheaper and companies will use other forms to transport their product. Car companies will not make cars out of steel but rather out of a hard composite plastic. The cars will no longer be the only things run by fuel cells but it will become the electrical system for the home. The demand for oil will be diminished and will be a thing of the past.
In conclusion, although fuel cell cars are exciting and very beneficial to society
today, they also have some deep-rooted consequences. This revolution will definitely restructure society in more ways than can be predicted.
