W.Faulkner’s Story "That Evening Sun"

Actually it is worth to be mentioned that this extract emphasises the differences between Jefferson now and then. Adjectives, verbs, descriptions - everything is used in order to show the differences between how everything looks now and how it was and looked fifteen years ago. The narrator describes that these fifteen years ago white people used Negro women for washing their clothes and preparing the meals. At the same time now the clothes are gathered by a city laundry. That fifteen years ago the streets were quiet and dusty, but now streets are pawed and different companies are cutting down different trees that earlier gave a shade. It is emphasised how things and people are changing.
I think that W. Faulkner’ s story is worth to be reading because I think that maybe not only this extract, but the whole story describes these differences between present and past that is mentioned in the story. The story also is interesting and colourful by all those adjectives and different stylistic devices to show these differences to the reader and make him or her imagines how everything was and looked some time ago and how it is now. The author tries to make the reader to compare how everything was and how it is now and make some conclusions.
