"The Game of Illusions" Book Report of Frances Scott Fitzgerald Roman "Tender Is the Night"

It is a partly autobiographical book,that reflects the strength of a
person`s character as well as the cruel games of the fate. It shows the fight for one`s ideals with the ruling class as well as the upper class influence .

The greatest splendor is seen in the non-importunate author`s sketches or, may be it is better to say, in his serene sketches, where he marks the pesimistic procedure of the future events.

You see the paradox - there is a young, prosperous neurologist doctor Richard Divers with bright future, but he pushes aside his scepticism and marries one of his patients – a rich, young American woman Nicole Warren, promising to keep a contract to cure her and to be beside her all the remaining days of hers, thus leaving an open question – what his main objective of doing so was, how great his love was or was it only a wish to play a risk.

Dick and Nicole Divers are a sparkling 1920`s expatriate country children.Doctor Richard Divers a young neurologist already gaining great respect in his profession. One day he visits his friend Franz in Zurich. Franz is treating a young American girl, Nicole Warren ,who has been sexually abused by her father and has suffered a breakdown. Nicole is attracted to Diver and writes him letters after she leaves the clinic. When she is almost cured, Diver returns to the clinic and decides, rather haphazardly, to marry her. Nicole comes from a rather wealthy family and the couple begin to travel round Europe. They settle briefly in a cabin by the French Riviera and aim to live quietly so that Dick can finish his treatise. Nevertheless, Dick`s easy going, giving nature attracts a band of followers. When Rosemary, a budding American film star, visits their town, she too is drawn to him. She tells him she loves Dick, but he remains true to Nicole.
