The European ideal has been interesting for missioners only. But it has been so only till the great
time when it formed a strong political conception and became a goal for the member states of
European union for a long time. The term of "United States of Europe" has been a part of a
humanistic pacifistic dream that vanished under the pressure of the conflicts all over the
European continent in the first half of the XX century. The image of a new Europe that could
possibly defeat the hostile nationalism has developed from the resistance movements. Italian
federalist Altiero Spinelly and Jan Monne, who was the initiator of the Shuman plan, which, in
return, pushed the creation of European union of coal and steel in 1951 - all these men gave an
