Halloween is a kind of superstition, derived from the legends and myths that have remained for generations, and turned into the holiday by the ancient Celts and brought by the Irish to the United States. Ghosts, goblins, ghouls, and witches are a large part of Halloween, but few people know why those “items” are associated with the mentioned above holiday. Perhaps. the most famous of Halloween superstitions is the jack-o’-lanterns. Many years ago, a poor Irish drunkard named Jack promised the devil his soul for one last drink. The devil agreed to take his soul in ten years and when the time came, Jack tricked the devil and managed to escape. When Jack died, he was admitted neither to Heaven nor to Hell and was forced to wander at night with only a lantern. Since then jack-o’-lantern stands for the damned soul. People carve pumpkins and place them on their doorsteps to ward off evil spirits with the hope that the image of a damned soul would scare them away.…
