John Wesley, along with his brother Charles, wanted to provide something all people could find hope in, regardless of class (Tucker 8). John Wesley was a priest in the Church of England in the 1700's. Wesley was beginning an outbreak from the Anglican Church of England. The Methodist traditions, based on grace and service, had a warming and significant impact on England (Campbell 70). The religion evolved over time and eventually, in 1968, The Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church united to form the United Methodist Church.
