This poem written by Irish poet Oscar Wilde tells about a love of two persons.
From the first lines of the poem we can see the introduction with situation and explaining the main theme. The main theme in my opinion is the courage of the characters to take liberty and fall in passionate feelings against each other ignoring the surrounding world. And finding each other behind the everyday problems and issues. That we can see from first two lines –
“Within the restless, hurried, modern world
We took our heart’s full pleasure – You and I,”…
