I would like to begin by defining that actually is rural tourism. So, rural tourism is a kind of tourism that includes leisure, as well as cultural tourism and some other kinds of tourism developing in the countryside areas.
It is a pity, but Latvian government does not pay much attention to rural tourism. No serious researches were available on this topic, before now. Lack of information and clear definition do not allow this kind of tourism to develop more headily. Just recently government came to the common idea of rural tourism. Thus, rural tourism are based on:
Companies working in countryside;
Products and services connected with rural tourism (homestead, camping, hostel; different kind of activities and leisure);
Countryside’s attraction (rest, solitude, landscape, adventure);
Location of the countryside (close to towns or, vice versa, far away in the unsettled places)
Nowadays rural tourism is a very popular in Latvia. It offers a wide range of different services for local and foreign tourists. Latvia has a lot of advantages in this sphere, because of its nature and special ethnic culture. …
