Good morning Dear Audience,
Today’s topic of conference is “Law in Latvia and abroad”. And our team, which consists of two members: Julija Livzane and Svetlana Busalova want to offer you a project named “Capital punishment in Latvia and abroad”. Our presentation will last for about 15 minutes and consist of three main parts:
1.What is the capital punishment?
2.Capital punishment’ history
3.Capital punishment in Latvia
4.Capital punishment abroad
5.Pluses and minuses of capital punishment
If you have any questions, we’ll be pleased to answer them at the end of the presentation.

What is the capital punishment?
As Hyman Barshay says “The death penalty is a warning, just like a lighthouse throwing its beams out to sea. We hear about shipwrecks, but we do not hear about the ships the lighthouse guides safely on their way. We do not have proof of the number of ships it saves, but we do not tear the lighthouse down."
In the common words it is execution (death) for a capital offense.…
