The International Council of Museums (ICOM) is an organisation created in 1946 by and for museum professionals and who works for society and its development . It is a public interest organisation that has committed to ensure the protection and conservation of cultural goods. It has a large number of members (about 30,000) that represent the global museum community and they have many ways of activity, for example, ICOM is one of the leading forces when it comes to ethical matters. ICOM also has a diplomatic forum made up of experts from 137 countries and territories to respond to the challenges museums face worldwide . It has also gained a consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council. They are also one of the organisations that founded the International Committee of the Blue Shield (ICBS). Right now ICOM uses three languages as their official working languages - English, French and Spanish.…
