Conclusions
The scientific justification behind the policy actions of the governments is embedded in the structure of politics, according to Marxists, in which theory the superstructure (science and medical profession) and the base (economic sphere and the political elite) are closely related. Despite the main theme, which describes the maintaining function of the superstructure, in this regard science – as the superstructural agency – acts as the primary shaping actor, which has influence over the decision-making of the capitalist elite, while inarguably they both shape and maintain each other in certain ways. The social control that has become stronger in the past year is provided by this relation, which serves as a validating structure in the eyes of the public, therefore obedience is rationalized.
Economic growth and profit influence the social policy decision-making process, as governments do not prioritize human life over production, therefore in the US sanitary product markets became extremely profitable from mask, sanitizer, and COVID-test supplies. Moreover, the lack of emphasis in previous years on medical preparedness to such a crisis is a result of capitalism, which does not prefer to spend on matters that do not align with Marx’ M-C-M’ theory, for example supplies and more hospital beds.…
