Demography of Rezekne 1990 - 2015

In the close future Rezekne can become again an important intersection of transit roads, it may be beneficial to place the logistics enterprise development and the former metalworking and mechanical engineering traditions and the availability of a qualified workforce can be the basis for this industry's business development in the Region if the developers will be interested in that type of cooperation and investments. As the region's cultural center Rezekne can also become a successful tourism business location using both the region's cultural and natural potentials. Cultural tourism product development and promotion on the market (cultural tourism product
development, regional tourism center formation) is slowly but quite successfully aracking population to the region. Population increasing is possible only if the overall environment will be changed and new job places will appear, as a result of RSEZ attracted producers successfully development.
Rezekne villages and farmsteads are naturally provided with high-quality living environment like ecological and quiet atmosphere and the development of the villages, environment and increases in available range of services and quality technical infrastructure range can happen.
Of course all this points of development of the region and the city generally can help to revive the region but probably it is not enough only with private business involving, and all that process could be faster and more resultative if the government of the country could also be involved, but unfortunately this is not happening and the region’s developing is happening very slowly and not so fast as the process of population decreasing and degradation of the region. From realistic point of view in the close future the situation in Rezekne will not change due to lots of political and economic causes.
