Human migration has always been of great importance. I chose this topic for my course project not only to look deeper into this matter, but also to point out some of the economical reasons and consequences of it. People migrate to other countries to find better job, higher quality of social welfare, better pension system, due to political reasons, etc. Since the year 2004 Latvia has faced high level of emigration, and one of the destinations of our fellow citizens is the United Kingdom, which has always been one of the most welcoming countries for immigrants due to economic reasons, however, now the situation is changing in the attitude towards immigrants. The reasons for these changes I will discuss in the second part of this paper.
The course project consists of two parts: the first one is general overview of human migration processes, especially the peaks, in both the United Kingdom and Latvia starting with the 20th century, stating the year, statistics, target countries for the migrants, the countries of their origin, as well as mentioning the reasons and consequences.…
