History knows many strange cases, when the artist without any intention to violate copyrights or do plagiarism made some kind of art work, which surprisingly was similar to other works that were made before. Even great and worldwide recognized authorities, like Friedrich Nietzsche, George Harrison, Lord Byron, were involved in such cases. (Taylor, 1965)
This phenomenon has attracted even the attention of psychology scientists and many tests have been made and results proved that it is possible, that “forgotten memory returns without it being recognised by the subject, who believes it is something new and original”. (Jung, 1902) This phenomenon is called cryptomnesia.
Intellectual property has commodity value, and this research paper examines, that in perception of Baltic people, cryptomnesia is not a violation of copyright laws, plagiarism.
Short internet questionnaire was made and 63 people from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia expressed their opinion about this topic.…
