The blockages may be caused by blood clots or fatty deposits. Hemorrhagic stroke are caused when arteries in the brain leak blood or burst open. This blood damages brain cells and reduces blood supply to the brain. [2]
Most common stroke symptoms are – sudden weakness or numbness in the face, arm, or leg on one side of the body, loss of vision, strength, coordination, sensation, speech, or the ability to understand speech, sudden loss of balance. [6] If person suspects having a stroke or that someone else is having a stroke, it is necessary to call for an ambulance immediately. The sooner a stroke is treated in hospital, the more likely the person is to recover. Time delays can increase the damage to the brain. [1]
The goal of first aid is to prevent risks for health by helping and reacting on time. By improving and promoting knowledge of first aid, society will become more educated and able to reduce mortality in the population. First aid should be introduced already in primary schools and taught to children. At times when people are dealing with injuries, accidents they do not really know how to properly provide first aid to the victim because of stress and confusion at that moment. Society needs to be attentive to others. Stroke and heart attack can affect anyone anywhere - at home, at work, on the street. Negligence and indifference of people around us are allies of life thieves - stroke and heart attack.
