Education in Japan

History
Formal education in Japan began with the adoption of Chinese culture in the 6th century.
19th century students were sent abroad to study.
Compulsory education was introduced, mainly after the Prussian model .
The rise of militarism led to the use of the education system to prepare the nation for war.
The main subject of protest in 1960 was the Japan-US security treaty .
