The palace of Rundle, sixty seven kilometers south – west of Rīga in central Latvia without doubt, one of the most impressive place I have ever visited. It was constructed in the 1730s to a design by Bartolomeo Rastrelli as a summer residence of Ernst Johann von Biron, the duke of Courland. Following Biron's fall from grace, the palace stood empty until the 1760s, when Rastrelli returned to complete its interior decoration. In fact Rundles palace has 138 premises surrounded by a lovely Baroque park, many stairways but Rundles palace hasn’t any tower or fountain. Rundles palace is spectacular and I think very beautiful, you can see it from kilometers away, and when you get closer, what strikes you is palace’s size and architecture. …
