For the students at ASE 1 who are not planning on a pursuing post-secondary education they are also well prepared for the future. The independence of the program teaches time management, responsibility and organizational skills that are nessasary for life. As well, ASE 1 allows students to be proud of themselves without fear of persecution that some face in standard schools. The atmosphere of the students is that you are what you are and as long as you do not interfere with my progress then everythig is fine. The only time that students have problems at ASE 1 is when they get lazy and do not complete assignments when they have agreed to have them done by and when they start mising classes and appointments. The hole point of ASE 1 is to provide the opportunity for students to succeed and they are accomplishing that goal.
ASE 1 is an extemely viable program that should be expanded to other parts of Toronto and Ontario. I believe that the students involved in the program are fortunate that this program is available to them. Otherwise we could be losing a lot of good students out of the system due to the rigidness of the standard system. I feel the keys to this program is the size. If the school gets too big then students fall through the cracks likewhat happens now in schools.
