As a top student of the class, some of the psychological techniques have become very basic in the way that I play touch football. Things such as mental imagery, where I imagine within my mind what to do next, have become a natural instinct whenever on a football field. For example, I do not necessarily have to concentrate on when to throw a pass, how to throw it, when to run in which direction etc. but I am concentrating more on the other team and the way they are defending so I may change the rucking pattern to fool them. In this way, I use broad attentional focus as I can focus on other things involved in my performance so as to better my overall performance. On the other hand, the girls team have to focus on all the basic skills involved with touch football such as passing, catching and imagining each move right through to the finish so as to be able to perform to their potential. In this way, the girls use narrow attentional focus as they have to focus specifically on their on skills to better their performance.…
