When software gets copied without permission from the copyright holder we call it software piracy. This means that the copyright holder, usually the one who makes the software, will not get any reward for his/hers product. Most countries have intellectual property laws for the protection of software, but it is difficult to find out if computer users got unauthorized software on their computers. There is obviously a high degree of acceptance by computer users to copy software and there is no real danger of getting caught.
Software piracy has many forms and many causes. The most common form is when somebody purchases a single licensed copy of software and loads it on several computers, contrary to the license. So if the program is loaded into friends and co-workers computers there will be a breach of the copyright law.…
