For centuries people have watched the tobacco industry grow and develop and now it is one of the most successful and profitable in the world. Although nowadays everyone knows about the negative and sometimes lethal consequences of smoking, the number of people who choose cigarettes over their health is overwhelming. Not only do they put themselves in harm’s way, but they also risk endangering their loved ones. So the question arises – should smoking be banned for the greater good or this choice should remain in the hands of each individual?
Once a person starts smoking, it is very difficult to stop. It is incredibly addictive and few can resist the temptation. Smoking consumes people and it makes them nervous. Of course smokers themselves say that it helps and calms their nerves, but the only reason why they feel like that, is because it is just like being under the influence of drugs – if one does not get the ‘fix’, one becomes anxious and sometimes even violent. So they believe the only way to not feel like that is to have another cigarette, but they are wrong. It is just one of the ways to be – the easiest. …
