4.1.4 MULTI-DISCIPLINARY TEAMWORK
This kind of assessment is critical when we attempt to pull together a rounded picture of the clients' circumstances. The team consists of a number of different disciplines (not necessarily in the same building/agency) who sharing their knowledge and expertise concerning a certain client-situation i.e. a specific client with the objective of identifying and using those services which decide most effectively to meet assessed needs.
In Closing: In the human sciences the word assessment is used for the term diagnosis, used in medical disciplines. Interviews (as discussed) are a very important source of information in assessing the problem. The development of understanding about individuals, families, small groups and communities is an important aspect of assessment. The same understandings about any system that are requisite for professional interaction with that system are the core of the assessment stage of the inventive or service process. A social study is an assessment. Observations of behaviour are important sources, as are questionnaires and other research tools that are sometimes used to gather needed information, as are various tests. Assessment is an essential ingredient for the individualization of people and social systems.
