Psychoanalytic Theory: My Perspective on Freudian Theory

I can see and appreciate the benefits of psychoanalytic therapy but desire a theory that is more 'workable'. As a therapist, I would definitely use many of the tools of this theory (dream analysis, resistance, and free association) to interpret my clients' unconscious, as well as an assessment of their childhood. I however would incorporate a more modern and personalized view on the therapist/client relationship.
