Oscar Wilde “The Happy Prince and Other Stories”

A sparkle in a teardrop! That’s how I’d call this book if I had to give it another title. Wildes stories resembles tales- they have hopes and fantasies in them- that’s why a sparkle. But also they are full of sadness, misery, suffering and pain of good people. I think that the purpose of this book is to call out some emotions. It’s full of moral and you have to think over your life and your actions after reading it. A report on this book includes three major aspects: theme, style and value.
One aspect of the book is its theme. I would have to say it’s selflessness. There are some egoistic and selfish heroes in every story and at the same time there are heroes who give anything to make others happy so it’s full of contrasts. The best thing about this book is that the author doesn’t judge anyone. He doesn’t judge the Miller from ”The Devoted Friend” for being selfish and cruel to little Hans or for using him and being responsible for his death.…
