No Love for Shinedown

After listening to the CD and reading the lyrics we realize that four of the twelve songs are about bad relationships. Although we have all been in relationships that did not work out the way we wanted, the songs in Leave a Whisper show that Brent has experienced relationships that were more painful than most. The lyrics of the songs makes us wonder if there are any positive outcomes from relationships in Brent's life. In an interview with Jon Wiederhorn of MTV Brent stated, "I've also had friends who have gone through divorce and addictions and then figured out they didn't want to live their life that way and they rose above it and just went on with their lives" (Wiederhorn, par. 8). This, along with statements by Brent about his troubled childhood, makes us hope that he is writing more about experiences that he has witnessed as opposed to those he has gone through.…
