Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the worlds best known advocates who believed in non-violent solutions to problems. Instead of using physical force, Dr. King used words to persuade and influence people. In his mind, language was the most powerful weapon of all. Through these techniques, Martin greatly changed the course of the Civil Rights Movement.
Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 at noon, on Tuesday to Alberta Williams King and Martin Luther King Sr. Martin's birth place was Atlanta, Georgia. Michael Luther King Jr. was his given birth name but later changed his name to Martin, after his father. He was the second of three children. The first was Christine and the third child was A.D.
Dr. King was extremely smart. He was so smart that in high school he skipped both the 9th grade and 12th grade. At the age of 15, Martin was going to college at Moore house College. Before he graduated, he had became an ordained minister in 1948. He entered Crozer Theological Seminary in Chester, Pa., to earn a divinity degree. Later he went on to earn a doctorate in theology at Boston University.
