Live Life on Purpose is a book written by Claude Hickman1. It reveals many questions about the purpose in a life. Based on the ideas found in scriptures, it shows a way for a Christian how to lead a life according to Gods plan.
In this essay I will focus on some ideas mentioned in this book and bring out some consequences that follow from them.
‘God was not really interested in me Christianizing my life as much as He was interested in me crucifying my life’ writes the author. In the book we can find many places where Hickman warn Christians about putting some Christian symbol on secular things. He mentions an example that before he became a Christian, he hated silence. After that he just changed a CD and the music was just music, but instead it should be worship. Still the aim isn’t to Christianize things but to crucify a life – to put a life in God’s hands. As He has given us everything we should be ready to give everything back to Him and to lead the life following the cross of Christ.
Further, Hickman focuses on the qualities of people who decide to follow God. He writes: ‘if you want your life to count, .., you don’t have to have a high IQ or EQ, you don’t have to come from a fine family or a fine school. You have to know a few great, majestic, unchanging, obvious, simple, glorious things, and be set on fire by them’ God can use any person.…
