Latvians, in my opinion, are very interesting and unique nation. They have very old culture and traditions, and interesting history. I when I though about history, I realized that Latvians always had fought for freedom but always very short was freedom’s time. I’ll try to have a look at these arguments.
People first time came in Latvia’s territory in 9 thousand years before Christ’s. First camp was in Laukskola near from Salaspils. All they know about them is that they were European race. Latvians have very interesting language – only Lithuanian language is similar. Latvians were peaceful nation and in the same time they were very good warriors to. But they fought only defending themselves. When Germans occupied Latvian nation in 13th century with their Church, our grand…fathers started to fight but Germans defeat our native land. And from that time started our 700 years of occupation. In these years Latvians weren’t united but when they had to - they “all stud up as one”. In 1918th 18th November, when our destiny like republic had to been made our grandfathers first time were like united nation. Next time when Latvians were united (all Baltic states) in “Via Baltic” and when our parents all went to Riga to demand our freedom and 4th May when were proclaimed our Independence Declaration. And when Latvians stud in Riga in 1991st at barricades and with tears in their eyes waited what our future will be like. All these Latvians tears and blood will remained in our harts but I’ll never understand why Latvian people said “yes” in referendum for EU. And I think that now we aren’t united.
When we speaking about people and work, Latvia has long-standing traditions of neatness in work, which is big culture. Latvians always had been very able and industrious nation. It’s feeled in our folk songs too. A latvian folk song says:
“Whatever you do, don’t forget to tie a knot!”
