Latvia is a small country, but we have painless history, colourful culture and bright minds, whom we can be proud of.
In Latvia there are about 1, 42 million Latvians, more then 200 000 of them have been scattered all over the world because of various historical events. The 20th century brought new crucibles for the Latvian people. They were world wars with inevitable victims, deportations, emigration, russification. The unbiased statistical data prove it: in 1935 there were 1 473 000 Latvians (75,5%) in Latvia whereas in 2000 only 1 430 000 (56% out of the total number of the population)But no matter of that what our country and people had live with and what terrible events they have experienced, we still are patriotically strong nation. That everyone can see in our culture.
No matter of depressed events what happened with Latvians in along period of time our culture has saved her uniqueness.…
