In my opinion, I don't see how broadband can be a negative effect for the design of multimedia applications, as multimedia as a whole can never have excessive resources i.e. a system having too much RAM or too much Gb or GHz, or even too much bandwidth. Speed in my view can only be a good thing and one that will drive us into a society that is constantly taking on new depths and new challenges. A society that cannot slow down as the fear of being "left-out" is compelling. Devising technology that brings our status as multimedia developers into ever-higher heights creating rich colourful graphics that almost look like "real life imagery" to the naked eye, audio that seems to revolve around the subject yet being output from just two speakers placed in front of the subject, games with added Artificial Intelligence that mimic real life situations and many many more technologically advanced multimedia states. Broadband as a delivery channel and with increases in speed and data transmission, will provide a new medium of distribution for such data intensive content that can only be a foundation to sophisticated multimedia applications as a result of broadband.
Having said that however, the only thing that could be disadvantaged as a result of broadband is Video Spam. …
