If the U.S. were to allow the consumption of drugs, more and more people would be addicted to drugs and which will result in more overdoses and also crime. There would be more crime because more people would be using their money for these highly addictive substances and resorting to crime to obtain more of certain drugs when their money has ran out. The conservatives want these regulations because it will protect citizens from overdoses and crime.
In conclusion, Conservatism provides us with the most freedom, while being protected, that Americans can possibly have. The libertarian viewpoint on regulating individual rights might seem like what the founding fathers might have wanted but some things need to be regulated to ensure citizens with protection and a prosperous life. Liberals think that America needs a stronger federal government to ensure the protection of individuals but it the long run, it can crush many people.
