Chemical agents are very effective in terrorist attacks, where the victims are unsuspecting and unprepared. During war, however, soldiers are equipped with the proper clothing and ventilation assistance to minimize the effects of such weapons. Unless caught off guard, their only effect on soldiers at war is to make them wear protective clothing causing them to be slower and less effective. All of the chemical agents listed in this paper are fatal if you are exposed to concentrated doses. And each agent causes its own characteristically painful death ranging anywhere from less than one minute, to an agonizing two and a half days. All have effects ranging from foaming at the mouth and eyes, to blistering the entire body and leaving open wounds across the skin and throat.
There is no sure defense against Chemical Warfare, the only thing we can do is be aware, become more educated, and pray we are never attacked with such awful weapons.
