Oscar Wilde, born in 1854, was an Irish writer and a poet, who later in his life became one of London’s most popular playwrights. Today he is remembered for his famous quotes, his imprisonment and his early death at the age of 46 .
‘The Picture of Dorian Grey’ is O. Wilde’s only published novel. It is considered a work of classic gothic horror fiction with a strong Faustian theme. It first appeared as the lead story in ‘Lippincott's Monthly Magazine’ on 20 June 1890, but was revised and altered, and after adding 7 chapters and deleting a lot of homoerotic overtones, the final version was published in April 1891.
‘The Picture of Dorian Grey’, poorly received by the critics at it’s time, is a well-know novel about a young man named Dorian Grey who, while being painted by an artist named Basil Hallward, meets Lord Henry Wotton, a friend of Basil’s, and is influenced by his world views.…
